Your visit will begin with Alex examining your teeth. X-rays and the use of a diagnostic laser (Diagnocam) may be used to pick up on problems not evident visually.
Eliminate the Infection
Fillings
Many people do not realise that a decayed tooth (or a cavity) is actually an infection caused by bacteria. When a filling is placed, the decayed part of the tooth is removed and the tooth is restored with a filling. We use a bonded white filling in the vast majority of cases.
Gum Problems
Bleeding gums, bad breath and bad taste are all symptoms of gum disease. Unfortunately, sometimes there are no symptoms at all. This is a condition caused by bacteria that results in destruction of the bone and gum attachment around a tooth.
It is also found to be a risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, low birth weight and pre-term births. It is a leading cause of tooth loss. Alex is very experienced in helping patients manage this disease and provides many helpful home care tips to bring the condition under control.
Root Canal Treatment
The most common cause of a toothache is an infected nerve inside the tooth caused by decay. At this point, Root Canal Treatment is required to relieve the toothache and save the tooth from needing to be extracted.
Root Canal Treatment involves removing the infected nerve from within the tooth. Once the nerve has been removed, the root canals will be cleaned, disinfected and filled with a material which will prevent further infection.
Extractions
Where patients elect this procedure or where there is no alternative, Alex can remove single or multiple teeth with a minimum of pain and discomfort in most cases. In fact, a lot of patients are surprised by how quickly and easily a tooth can be removed and end up asking “is it out already?”
Wisdom Teeth
Alex will provide advice on whether wisdom teeth will erupt normally or whether they need to be removed. Some un-erupted wisdom teeth can be left and monitored. Other wisdom teeth may be more troublesome and require extraction.
Extraction of wisdom teeth can be performed in the chair with a local anaesthetic. However, more complex cases are best managed by a specialist in a hospital environment. Alex will always provide his professional guidance with the right option for you.
Restore the Function and Appearance of Your Teeth
Chipped Teeth
Regardless of how the chip occurred, we can make your chipped tooth look ‘new’ again using a bonded white filling, with a minimum of fuss.
Dental Crowns
A Dental Crown replaces the outside layer of the tooth. They are an effective restoration to strengthen and protect damaged teeth. They are also used for cosmetic rejuvenations. There are a number of different types of crowns available and Alex will talk to you about your needs and help you to choose a solution that’s just right for you.
Dental Bridges
A Bridge is a permanent fixture used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth, secured to crowns that are placed on the teeth on either side of the space. The bridge fills the gap, thereby restoring both appearance and functionality.
Dentures
Also known as ‘false teeth’, dentures are designed to replace missing teeth. Whether you need to replace just a few teeth or all the teeth in your mouth, we’ll create a natural looking set of new teeth on a plastic or metal plate.
Enhance Your Smile
Invisalign
If you have crowded, rotated or spaced teeth, Invisalign may be the best alternative to correct your smile. A series of computer generated, invisible plastic aligners are used to move teeth to their ideal position.
The process can often be used instead of braces and causes less discomfort. You are able to see a computer simulation of what your teeth will look like before committing to Invisalign. Best of all you won’t feel self-conscious- the aligners really are virtually invisible.

Dental Veneers
These are facings (like false nails) placed on the outside of the tooth. They can be used to cover stained, discoloured or worn teeth. They can also be used to disguise minor rotations.
